The most iconic flip phone is back. After 15 years of the original Razr, Motorola has made a comeback for the new generation. The Razr is a nostalgic phone that’s been reinvented with a touch screen display.
Features of the Motorola Razr
Once opened, the new Razr has a screen size of 6 inches, which is the standard size amongst the current Samsung and iPhones. The Quick Display at the front of the phone allows users to view notifications and take photos.
How’s the camera?
The Motorola Razr’s camera is 16MP with the ability to shoot in night mode. When folded, the front 5MP camera is perfect for selfies with a small screen to take photos. The new flip phone will have a fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C for charging. The Samsung Galaxy Fold has a 12MP camera with 3 lenses, and the ability to take ultra wide angle photos and videos.
The downside of the new Motorola is that it only has a battery capacity of 2,500mAh. This is a concern as phones with a large screen size will consume a lot of battery power. Most smartphones nowadays contain at least 3000mAh battery. The Galaxy Fold has a huge battery capacity of 4,380mAh. With a battery size that big, users will be able to get at least a day and a half usage without needing to recharge it.
How much will the Motorola Razr cost?
The Razr will be available for purchase in America in January 2020 for US$1500. This is the lowest price out of all the foldable phones on the market.
The Galaxy Fold has a higher price point at AU$2,900 / US $1,980.
If you’re looking for a phone that’s compact sized with a unique design, the Motorola Razr is definitely for you. However, if you’re after a tablet-like phone with a much larger display, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is exactly what you need
